Mandate

SCARS believes that there is a home for every animal and operates as a shelter of last resort. Working closely with pounds, shelters and humane societies situated in Alberta to intake animals who are slated for euthanization, SCARS intakes these animals into the society. From there the animals are placed in foster homes where they are medically treated, spayed or neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, provided them with training and, eventually, adopted to "forever homes".

The Organization

SCARS operates as a no-kill rescue and animals who are not adopted can live out their lives at SCARS. Operating as a shelter of last resort, SCARS primarily takes in animals who are slated for euthanization at municipal pounds. SCARS actively works within the community to promote responsible companion animal guardianship. This includes promoting spaying and neutering, vaccinations, microchipping and training.

SCARS can be seen weekly at 9:45 am on the Global Edmonton Saturday newscast with Shane Jones and Kevin O'Connell

SCARS is a member of World Society for the Protection of Animals(WSPA)
